>A shared dream that started as long ago as 2010 finally took on momentum in 2015 when a customer-supplier relationship flourished into a formal partnership and gave rise to Zandam Abattoir Pty Ltd.

>Situated on Zandam Farm in the Cape Winelands, Zandam Abattor (ZA) is the Western Cape’s first new pork abattoir to be built in 34 years, and promises various distinct advantages to its customers.

>Partners Mauro Delle Donne, MD of Zandam Pork and André Louw, MD of A&H Meat Wholesalers, commenced this huge undertaking after a twenty-year customer-supplier relationship and decided to fulfil the advantages of integrating the slaughter service with their individual niches, being farming and distribution.

>ZA will exclusively slaughter animals bred and raised by Zandam Pork, a well-established brand in the Western Cape farming industry and famed for their European standard breeding facility.   Apart from their animal friendly rearing, another distinct advantage Zandam Pork has over many other pork produc­ers is the constant supply of fresh sweet whey from the Italian cheese factory located on the same property, which the pigs consume while still full of active probiotics. This makes the pork unique, tasty, and very healthy.

>The synergy between the piggery, the abattoir and the distribution units provides many exciting opportunities and will further strengthen the supply chain between the trio and provide an even better quality pork product to consumers of the Western Cape.
